Due North: Scenes from Waskaganish (James Bay)

I live here now. It boggles my mind. The same province, and yet so far (I flew most of the way here. I don’t even want to imagine how long a drive it would be home. 15 hours+, I think).

I’m tucked away for the next 4 months or more here in northern Quebec, in the Cree community of Waskaganish. I just arrived, but my first impressions are that there are a lot of bugs, it’s surprisingly hot for the north, food is insanely expensive, and the land is stunning. I’ll be blogging over at saminthenorth.blogspot.com for most of my Northern adventure, so feel free to follow me over there, too!
